When will the new local Rules be introduced?

The new local Greyhound Racing Rules will commence on 1 May 2023.

What new rules are being introduced?

LR 21A - It is an offence to cause any undue harm or suffering to a greyhound.

LR 34A -  Owners do not need permission to house a greyhound with a registered Breeder or Stud Master for the purposes of breeding or whelping.

LR 34B - A participant must present their greyhounds at a specific place when directed to do so by the Controlling Body.

LR 55 - A person must be registered as a Breeder to arrange for the service or AI insemination of a dam, or as a Breeder - Whelper to care for a whelping dam or litter of pups.

LR 55A - A pregnant dam must be located at the premises of a Registered Breeder at least 14 days before the expected whelping date.

LR 64A -  The owner or breeder of a greyhound must provide complete and accurate information in the course of registering a whelping or litter.

LR 178D - Additional restrictions may be imposed upon a suspended person, such as not attending a racecourse or place where greyhounds are trained or kept.

LR 178F - Additional restrictions may be imposed upon a disqualified person, preventing them from betting on a greyhound race.

LR 182 - If a participant is charged with criminal offences, the Controlling Body may suspend their registration pending the outcome of the charges.

Are any definitions changing? 

Yes, two definitions are changing as listed below.

Event - changing to In NSW, an Event includes a satisfactory trial.

Presentation - changing to Includes all greyhounds who present to a race track - whether they are scratched or not.
