NSW Greyhound Register
In 2020 the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission completed its Greyhound Register Reconciliation Program which was conducted to validate historical data and determine the actual number of greyhounds eligible for inclusion in the Commission’s Register, enabling it to track all registered greyhounds during their full lifecycle.
This program has enabled the Commission to determine that the total number of greyhounds on the Commissions register. This includes whelped but unnamed pups, pre-racing adolescents, racing greyhounds, breeding greyhounds and retired greyhounds that remain in the custody of industry participants.
The Commission will update the below data throughout the year to reflect changes to the status of registered greyhounds.
As at November 2020, the estimated total number of registered greyhounds is 20 168.
