Integrity
The Greyhound Industry Reform Panel recommended that GRNSW retain the commercial function of the greyhound racing industry and that the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission be created to take control of the regulatory functions. This occurred on 1 July 2018.
The Commission’s regulatory functions are to:
- To control, supervise and regulate greyhound racing in NSW
- To initiate, develop and implement policies relating to the welfare of greyhounds
- To undertake research and investigation into any aspect of the breeding of greyhounds and of greyhound racing
- To consult with animal welfare bodies in developing changes to legislation relating to the welfare of greyhounds
- To register greyhounds, greyhound racing industry participants and greyhound trial tracks
- To prepare and implement a Code of Practice for the Welfare of Greyhounds
- Make and administer the Greyhound Racing Rules
