Media / Rapid Antigen Testing to be implemented at the track

As part of GRNSW and the GWIC’s efforts to protect the health and safety of its participants and officials at racing venues throughout the pandemic, rapid antigen testing will be implemented from Friday 27 August 2021.

Rapid antigen testing has been used internationally and in Australian industries for some time to screen people for Covid-19 that may not have symptoms. Testing involves a nasal swab (using a small cotton bud) that is placed in a chemical solution. The result is displayed within 15 to 20 minutes. Further information regarding rapid antigen testing can be found at the following link: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/health-and-wellbeing/rapid-antigen-testing

Having the Test

  1. Participants may be contacted the day before the meeting and advised that they will be required to undergo rapid antigen testing prior to being allowed to enter the venue.
  2. A QR code will be sent to the participant so they can pre-register. (This can also be done at the track).
  3. Participants who have been advised that they are to undergo testing will be required to arrive at the track 30 minutes prior to the start of Kenneling.
  4. Event Management Services staff will conduct the test in line with the testing protocols and in accordance with NSW Health requirements.
  5. Participants who refuse or fail to present themselves 30 minutes prior to Kenneling for the purposes of a rapid antigen test will be refused entry to the track and their greyhounds may be withdrawn from the race meeting.
