Industry updates / 13 June 2019: Goulburn race meeting abandoned

The Commission has invoked the Track Inspections and Abandonment Protocol at Goulburn today.

Upon inspection of the track by stewards the track was deemed unsuitable for racing. The club were given the opportunity to remediate the track but were unable to do so given the extreme condition of the track and the ongoing inclement weather.

In all the circumstances, after consultation with the club and GRNSW the decision was made to abandon the meeting as the track was unsafe for racing and presented a welfare risk to greyhounds.

The decision was made as early as possible having regard to the Track Inspection and Abandonment Protocol.
